Unaccompanied housing is available to personnel in pay grades E1-E3 and E4 with less than four years of service. The on-base barracks and dorms provide a safe, secure environment for all residents and are in close proximity to work. UH facilities also provide communal lounges with televisions and residents can take advantage of nearby fitness, dining, and religious amenities. Resident advisors (RA) may also reside on-base to provide leadership and assistance for residents. NS Norfolk on-base housing is privatized and managed by Lincoln Military Housing. Today, Lincoln manages over 35,000 family homes across the country. Lincoln offers ten unique neighborhoods on NS Norfolk with a variety of floor plans that will meet the needs of most families. K-12 schools are within a short drive of all neighborhoods and some communities are even a short walk away from the closest school. The communities are near plenty of beaches, parks, and shopping. Lafayette Park, home to the Virginia Zoo and other family-friendly activities, is only about a 15-minute drive away. All family communities are also near the NEX and commissary. Amenities vary at each neighborhood but pets are welcome at all ten.
