Fort Meade Barracks

Unaccompanied housing at Fort Meade is available and managed for junior enlisted service members who get their PCS here and don’t have a family coming with them. Freedom Barracks beside Gaffney Gym is a likely place to be assigned. Everything you need is provided for you here. There’s a barracks manager and friendly staff to help you get situated and keep you comfortable. If assigned to Freedom, you’re going to need a ride to the PT field. 1. Heritage Park

: E1 - E5, O6 - O10 Heritage Park is a popular neighborhood on post that’s dedicated to the historical memory of George Meade. Burba Lake is close by, as is the neighborhood center, a movie theater, the PX, the commissary, and much more. You’ll find cottages and historic homes here. Some of them date back to the 1930s. The Maryland Historical Society is involved in keeping up the restoration efforts of some of the more historical homes in Heritage Park. There are multiple floor plans here. E 1 - E 5 ranks qualify for most of them, except the historic homes that are reserved for ranks O 6 - O 10.

2. Normandy Bluffs

: E1, DoD Contractors Normandy Bluffs isn’t a separate community, exactly, but rather an NCO extension of Heritage Park. Normandy Bluffs contains 115 townhouses reserved for E1s and DoD contractors with 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms. These are sizable, 2-story homes with front porches, patios, utility sheds, and other convenient amenities. You don’t have to live in a historic home to reap all the benefits of living on post.

3. Midway Common

: E1 - E8, O4 - CW5, DoD Contractors Midway Common is a great spot for families. There are a lot of single-family ranch homes here that offer a lot of space for everyone to have their own place. Most of the floor plans are 3 bedroom, 2 bath. There’s a 2-bedroom townhome available as well. The neighborhood center at Midway Common has a game room and theater room. The neighborhood is named for the Battle of Midway.

4. Meuse Forest

: All Meuse Forest is a community on post that’s named after a historical campaign from World War I. Meuse Forest has a rustic vibe to it. Even though it features some of the newest construction on post, it’s made to feel like the wood cabin homes are from a separate age, featuring lots of dark woods and wrought iron accents. The neighborhood center comes with public space and a movie theater. All ranks are welcome here. The houses themselves come in multiple floor plans and contain 3 or 4 bedrooms, carpeting, full kitchens and other amenities.

5. Patriot Ridge

: E1 - E5, DoD Contractors The neighborhood of Patriot Ridge is built up in a colonial feel that’s meant to evoke the imagery of the Revolutionary War. The colonial architecture reminds soldiers of the history they fight for every day. Patriot Ridge is nearby the on-post schools and two child development centers. The floorplans have 2, 3, and four bedrooms and are open to junior and senior NCOs as well as DoD contractors.

6. Potomac Place

: E1, O1 - CW2, DoD Contractors Potomac Place holds the oldest neighborhood center on any post and the largest at Fort Meade. It features an indoor half-court gym, a children’s library, and Internet cafe. There’s a hodgepodge of construction styles in the neighborhood with no governing architectural theme. From ranch homes to townhouses, colonials, and more, there’s something for everyone’s style at Potomac Place. Potomac Place is also close to the Exchange and other post amenities that will make your time living here a breeze. There are 2, 3, and 4-bedroom floor plans available.
