Fort Detrick Barracks

At Fort Detrick, unaccompanied housing is available to single Soldiers in pay grades E1-E5. Unaccompanied Soldiers of rank E6 will be authorized basic allowance for housing (BAH) at the “without dependant” rate and will be required to find housing off-post within the community. All single service members must report to their unit to be assigned barracks space. Any personnel arriving on post after service hours will be assigned temporary living quarters until the next duty day. All Soldiers requiring Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing must also have a current within 60 days end-of-month Leave and Earning Statement. The Unaccompanied Housing facilities strive to provide a personal residence that creates a comfortable, functional, and well-maintained home with a mission to take pride in the community.

The first thing you will be required to do once you arrive at Fort Detrick, even if you plan to live off-post, is head to the Housing Division Office. There you will receive a warm welcome from a team of professionals looking to help take the stress out of relocating. You will get assistance here with all of your housing needs and any information you need on military relocation. The Housing Division Office provides services that will help you with referrals, relocation assistance, guidance for entering a lease agreement, and tenant-landlord disputes.

Military family housing at Fort Detrick is privatized. The owner, Balfour Beatty Communities, is responsible for maintaining and managing the community neighborhoods. We advise you to contact the Housing Management Office as soon as you know that you are moving to Fort Detrick. There, you will receive the latest information about privatized housing and help with the application process from the government housing team. You will also be informed about post-specific policies.

Fort Detrick Family Homes

Balfour Beatty Communities offers a scenic gated community that contains many rental home styles in their neighborhoods with two, three, and four-room floor plans. There are many different floor plans and layouts in this well-kept community. Each neighborhood and rental house comes with a set of amenities that will make you feel right at home. Amenities vary depending on which of the neighborhoods you choose at Fort Detrick but include some of the following: master suites, ample closet and storage space, updated finishes, fully equipped kitchens, washer and dryer connections, and central heating and air conditioning. The community itself offers amenities that will provide your family with entertainment year-round. The neighborhoods include parks and playgrounds that are perfect for a family outing right on post. There are also walking and bike paths, basketball courts, and Community Center with a game room and business center. Be sure to keep up to date with the community as there are many free community events hosted throughout the year. Applying here is similar to living in the local community. You will sign a tenant lease agreement, typically for a one-year term. Your lease will include a military clause and a lease termination clause. Rent is paid by authorizing an allotment of your BAH that is paid directly to the property manager. If your family has school-aged children, the housing on post is within the Frederick County Public Schools district. This county has been ranked time and time again as some of the best schools in Maryland. There are no schools on post at Fort Detrick. Bus services are available for public schools that are a mile and a half and farther away.

In this community, you’ll enjoy playgrounds and trails and quick access to the Old Farm gate on post for quick access to shopping and entertainment outside of Fort Detrick. Amenities include a garage, fully equipped kitchen, wood-style floors, and a patio.

2. Fort Detrick Family Housing


E1-E9, O1-O9, military retirees, DOD employees, general public Here in the Fort Detrick Family Housing neighborhood, you will be conveniently located near the Child Development Center, perfect if you have young children. This neighborhood offers two, three, and four-bedroom floor plans. Amenities include a patio, a fully equipped kitchen, and exterior storage. You will also be close to playgrounds and recreational trails here.

3. Glick Bullene


E1-E9, O1-O9, military retirees, DOD employees, general public In the Glick Bullene neighborhood, you can find three and four-bedroom duplex-style homes. You’ll be near the Child Youth and School Services building, and this neighborhood also features basketball courts and multiple playgrounds. Amenities include hardwood floors, a master suite, a patio, and central heating and air conditioning.

4. Monacacy Meadows


E9, O1-O9 Monacacy Meadows features three and four-bedroom homes that are located within walking distance of the community center. Here you will find easy access to trails, a basketball court, and playgrounds. Amenities include hardwood floors, a fully-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a master suite.
