Welcome to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, a world-class patient care facility in Maryland. Walter Reed is a military academic health center that provides care to military personnel and families in the National Capital Region. Walter Reed National Military Medical Center opened in 2011 after the Base Realignment and Closure Act closed the National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Naval Support Activity Bethesda is home to the Walter Reed Medical Center.
