Fortunately, there are some great housing options for housing at Kirtland AFB and in the surrounding area as well. Kirtland AFB BAH
Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) is provided as a monthly stipend for service members who live off base in the community. There are a lot of options for off-base living at Kirtland since the base is inside the city of Albuquerque. The major metro and the suburbs around it can easily provide a great home for you. BAH is designed to help you pay for it. It’s a calculated amount that takes into consideration your rank and zip code to provide you with funds to offset some of the costs you’ll be facing by not living on base and using the provided resources.

Kirtland AFB Barracks
Unaccompanied housing is available for airmen ranks E1-E4. There are over 800 rooms available for those who qualify for a spot here. The rooms are dorm style with a shared bathroom. You’ll have access to a lot of resources that are provided for you by housing staff and management to make your stay at Kirtland as comfortable as it can be. There are also airman dormitory leaders who are available to address any concerns you may have. Make sure that you know whether or not you’ll qualify for the barracks before you get to Kirtland.
Kirtland AFB Housing Office
The housing office should be your first call after you find out that you’re moving. The knowledgeable staff here can walk you through the homes you qualify for, help you with logistics like moving, and answer any questions when it comes to pets or whatever else your particular circumstances require. Make this important call right away so that you can come to base prepared and set yourself up for success while you’re here.

Kirtland AFB Communities
Kirtland Family Housing is managed by Hunt Military Communities. They offer multiple communities on base with over 1,300 options for housing, including single family houses and duplexes. Each unit is designed to accommodate an individual or family with a specific rank or designation, and DoD contractors and retired personnel are also eligible for certain homes. There’s a lot to navigate in order to make sure you find the right fit for your needs, but if you feel overwhelmed at any point, the Hunt Military Communities office can be reached by phone at 1 (505) 255-1188.
1. Pershing Park
Pershing Park is a community of duplexes at Kirtland AFB. Each unit comes in 2, 3, or 4-bedroom floor plans, each on a single story. There are a ton of great amenities in each, including ceiling fans, energy star appliances, stucco or brick exteriors, hookups for washers and dryers, single-car garages, and so much more. You’ll also enjoy extreme peace of mind with the 24/7 emergency maintenance services provided for you. Each unit also has extra storage and utility rooms. Landscaping is done for you by the housing staff on base, so you don’t have to spend unnecessary energy on keeping up appearances. Pershing Park also has a community pool with a kid’s section, a soccer and baseball field, and convenient access to the commissary and exchange. The different floor plans here can be reserved only by certain ranks, so make sure to call for eligibility.
2. The Villages
The Villages is a neighborhood that offers both duplexes and single-family houses in various sizes and floor plans. The architecture is diverse and interesting, with Mediterranean, Spanish, Colonial, and other styles mixed in together. Each unit offers a lot of amenities to make your stay comfortable, like tiled entryways, storm doors, stucco exteriors, single-car garages, energy star appliances, ceiling fans, utility rooms, laminate countertops, and more. Landscaping at the Villages is taken care of for you, and 24-hour maintenance services are available. There are many different floor plans available at the Villages, some with backyards and privacy fences, some with front porches along the sidewalk, and some that are 2,000+ square feet in size. Each of them requires an airman to be a certain rank to qualify, so make sure to check in with Hunt Military Communities to see which eligible units are available to you.
There are a lot of great places to live on base in one of the communities at Kirtland AFB. With all the floor plans and amenities available to you, it might take a while to pick your favorite. Though you won’t be eligible for each floor plan in all neighborhoods, so you’ll have to do your research or call the housing office to get the list of potential properties for you. Whether you decide to live in the city of Albuquerque, the surrounding suburbs, or the neighborhoods on base, you’re going to enjoy your time here at Kirtland, so don’t stress and make it last.
