Introduction
Welcome to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in Arizona. MCAS Yuma is an aviation training base that provides access to more than 1 million acres of bombing and aviation-training ranges. MCAS Yuma supports 80 percent of the Marine Corps' air-to-ground aviation training. Twice a year, the air station hosts the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course. This seven-week course provides advanced tactical aviation training. MCAS Yuma's population includes approximately 4,000 active-duty Marines and sailors. And each year, the station hosts approximately 70 aviation units that bring an average of 600 aircraft and 14,000 personnel to the air station for ongoing training. The station is home to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1, Marine Aircraft Group 13, Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Marine Fighter Training Squadron 401 and Combat Logistics Company 16. Where Should I Live Near MCAS Yuma?
Cities Near MCAS Yuma
While many military family members call base housing their home, others choose to live in nearby communities. San Luis, Somerton, Yuma, the Yuma Foothills, Winterhaven (in nearby California) and other neighboring communities provide housing, employment and other services for MCAS Yuma military families.
