NAS Key West Schools

There are no DoD schools on base. Children of active-duty military living in military housing usually attend Sigsbee Charter School on Sigsbee Park or one of the 14 schools within Monroe County Schools.

The Child Development Center offers child care for children as young as 6 weeks to as old as 5 years of age. Full-time care as well as drop-in care are available. However, drop-in care has a weekly maximum of 25 hours. Any fees you incur will be based on your family’s total income.

The Monroe County School District is home to over 8,000 students in the upper, middle, and lower keys. Most children of military families on NAS Key West will attend schools in the Lower Keys – from Key West to 19 miles north in Sugarloaf Key. Most elementary students will attend the elementary school in their residential zone. Children of active-duty military members living in military housing (Sigsbee Park, Trumbo Point, and Truman Annex) usually end up attending Sigsbee Charter School on Sigsbee Park.
