Presidio of Monterey Barracks

Soldiers who have just finished their Basic Combat Training, and who are reporting to the Defense Language Institute as their first long-term duty assignment, will be restricted to living on post in the barracks for the first four weeks. Defense Language Institute Housing Office

The Housing Service Center should be your first stop. This office offers relocation services and personalized housing services for military personnel and their families as they get settled into their new surroundings.

The Housing Services Office provides housing support for all service members and their families affiliated with the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. In addition to the Defense Language Institute personnel, the office also provides housing assistance to service members connected to the Presidio of Monterey, Navy Postgraduate School, Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center, Coast Guard, and Recruiting and Reserve Commands. If you are inbound to the Monterey Bay area, your point of contact for relocation assistance regarding housing in the local area is the HSO. For those leaving Monterey, the HSO will assist with information about your next duty station and the availability of housing as well as other support functions at your new location.

Family housing for Defense Language Institute students and permanent party personnel is available at Fort Ord and La Mesa Village. Presidio of Monterey On-Post Housing Options

1. Presidio Park

Ranks:

E1-E6 The historic homes on the Presidio are reserved for key and essential military personnel. Residents have a variety of options in the community, from two to six bedrooms, with lots of room to move around.

Fort Ord Housing Options

1. Doe Park

Ranks:

E5-E9, O1-O6. W1-W3 Doe Park is a quaint community with tree-lined streets featuring three- and four-bedroom homes. It is home to the community's popular Rec Center and many outdoor amenities, and is just down the road from the Commissary and Post Exchange.

2. Fitch Park

Ranks:

E5-E9, O1-O6. W1-W5 Fitch Park enjoys many outdoor community spaces and easy access to the Fort Ord biking and hiking trail network. Its three- and four-bedroom homes feature desirable porches or balconies for enjoying the bay-side climate and views.

3. Hayes Park

E1-E4 Adjacent to Bayonet and Black Horse golf course, this cozy neighborhood features stunning ocean views from most of its three- and four-bedroom homes. This neighborhood is home to tennis and basketball courts, an outdoor play area, and the Monterey Military Attic.

La Mesa Military Housing in Monterey

1. Capehart Forest
