This week's military news roundup covers three major stories: a congressional report revealing U.S. military aircraft losses in the Iran war have nearly doubled to 81, including 45 Reaper drones; the Pentagon's plan for a new mega-base housing up to 25,000 troops with states competing for the installation; and the scheduled firing squad execution of Nidal Hasan, convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, which would be the military's first execution since 1961.

On the Radar
Here's what's on the radar in military life this week. The number of U.S. military aircraft lost or damaged in the Iran war has nearly doubled. A new congressional report puts the total at 81, up from 42 in May. That includes 45 Reaper drones, along with fighter jets, helicopters and refueling aircraft. Not all were destroyed, but the losses highlight the war's growing toll on military equipment. The Pentagon wants to build a massive new military base, and states are being asked to compete for it. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says the installation could house up to 25,000 troops. According to Newsweek, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, South Dakota, Wyoming and Utah are among the potential contenders. The former Army psychiatrist convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting is scheduled to be executed by firing squad on December 3rd. President Trump approved the execution of Nidal Hassan, which would be the military's first since 1961. However, an appeal could delay it. And over on Veteran Life, as the USS Abraham Lincoln and its sailors finally return home after 320 days at sea, we're taking a look at the longest carrier deployments in Navy history. As always, make sure you follow along so you never miss What's on the Radar!
