Welcome to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the west coast headquarters of Marine Corps Aviation. Once known as Fighter Town USA, this base is best known for being the home of the Navy's Top Gun program from 1969 to 1996. Today, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is home to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and supports over 21,000 active duty service members, civilians, and contractors. If you're just reporting into Miramar, enter through the main gate located off Interstate 15 on Miramar Way so you can stop by the Visitor and Registration Center. From there, active duty will check in at the Regional Personnel Administration Center. Housing for Families stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is managed by the Naval Base San Diego Housing Services Center. They can provide support whether you want to live on or off base. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar's base exchange and commissary have everything you need to get settled tax-free. Nature lovers will enjoy spending their days off at the installation's beautiful Mills Park, which even has a fishing pond open for recreational use. Alternatively, you could catch a discounted movie at the Bob Hope Theater or tee off at the Memorial Golf Course. At Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, you'll get the best of both worlds. The tight-knit base community outside the hubbub of the city, but with incredible access to all that San Diego has to offer. Welcome to the Miramar family and welcome aboard!
