Welcome to Naval Air Station Oceana, the Navy's East Coast Master Jet Base. Originally established in 1943 as a small training facility during World War II, this installation has evolved and expanded right alongside the incredible legacy of naval aviation. Today, that growth is reflected in a sprawling, nearly 6,000-acre facility split across two sections, the main base and Dam Neck Annex, located just five miles down the road right along the beach. As the largest employer in Virginia Beach, Naval Air Station Oceana serves a vibrant Navy community of roughly 20,000 service members and their families. If you're just arriving, make your first stop at the pass and decal office located just outside the main gate on Tomcat Boulevard to get your parking pass. Active duty service members will then head to the quarterdeck to officially check in. To help you settle in smoothly, the Navy Housing Services Center is standing by to assist with on- or off-base living, and the commissary and exchange are fully stocked with everything you'll need. When you're off duty, the recreation options are endless. Enjoy Liberty Centers and bowling alleys at both the main base and Dam Neck Annex, or check out the on-post golf course and recreational shooting range. Just outside the gates, Virginia Beach offers a fantastic quality of life, featuring top-tier schools, incredible restaurants, and family-friendly entertainment. From its unbeatable coastal location to its outstanding on-base amenities, this is an assignment you won't want to leave. Welcome to the Oceana family and welcome aboard.
