Introduction

Welcome to Anniston Army Depot in Alabama. Anniston Army Depot, or ANAD, is a U.S. Army maintenance center and munitions storage site. The depot is known for its heavy combat vehicle, small arms weaponry, and locomotive expertise.

The depot encompasses more than 25 square miles, with 3.5 million square feet of maintenance and production buildings and 6.8 million square feet of storage buildings.

Directions to Anniston Army Depot

Anniston Army Depot is found in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeastern Alabama’s Calhoun County. To the west of the installation is Birmingham, Alabama; to the east is Atlanta, Georgia. The closest major airports are Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, which is about 50 miles from the depot, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is about 105 miles from the depot.

Driving Directions From Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport

  1. Take Interstate 20 east/Interstate 59 north.
  2. From I-20 east, take Exit 173 to Country Road 5/Country Road 93/John N. Wills Avenue.
  3. Turn right onto U.S. Route 78 east.
  4. Keep left to continue onto Bynum Boulevard.
  5. Turn left onto Victory Drive. The main gate is on this road.

Driving Directions From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

  1. Take Interstate 20 west for approximately 85 miles.
  2. Take Exit 179 (Munford/Coldwater).
  3. Continue on state Route 202.
  4. Turn left onto Bynum Boulevard.

Oxford

South of the city of Anniston is the city of Oxford. This city is home to 21,200 people. The city has a number of attractions, including the Oxford Performing Arts Center, which hosts a variety of musical, theater, and dance performances. The city also maintains several parks, a civic center, and a senior center. The city’s newest park, Choccolocco Park, features a sports complex, a 30-acre lake, a disc golf course, and a fully accessible Boundless Playground.
