Traverse Kissing Camels in Garden of the Gods

The Kissing Camels Nature Trail is a looped trail right outside of the Colorado Springs area. Unfortunately, while you can enjoy this feature, it’s located within a gated community, so to do so, you’ll need to either live within the community or befriend someone who does. Those who take on this trail can expect to hike 1.4+ miles and will usually complete it in under 40 minutes. Dogs are allowed, but they must be on a leash.

How High Is Kissing Camels?

Located around 25 minutes from Fort Carson, Kissing Camels sits at an elevation of 6,611 feet near the Tower of Babel with proximity to White Rock. This increase in elevation provides an interesting feature for the nearby golf course that uses the local beauty as its backdrop.

27 Challenging Holes Await

The Kissing Camels Golf Course at the Garden of the Gods Resort is a course open to the public that provides its guests with 27 holes of challenging, beautiful play. You’ll find the course at 4500 Kissing Camels Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80904, available year-round at the following times:

• November through April, the course is open every day from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
• April through October tee times may be placed from 8:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m.
• Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve still allow players access from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
• The course is closed on Christmas Day.

Because of the increase in elevation, golfers will notice that the ball flies through the air with considerably less effort than on courses closer to sea level. From there, you can see the formation to the left. It’s a known hotspot without being overly touristy and provides a great way to get your kids involved, outside, and having fun as the entire family searches for the Kissing Camels.
