At Holloman AFB, unaccompanied housing is available to enlisted ranks E-1 to E-3 and E-4 with less than 3 years of service. For unaccompanied Airmen of rank E-4 with greater than 3 years of service, they may find housing in the local community. All single service members must report to their unit to be assigned barracks space. A private sleeping room, furnishings, bed linens, and supplies required for comfortable living are provided to every Airman. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas, and there are no pets allowed in the barracks. Amenities include a full-size refrigerator and microwave in each room. There’s a dayroom on each floor and at least one laundry room in each building. Many rooms also include kitchen facilities, and those without will have kitchen facilities located in the second-floor dayroom.

The Unaccompanied Housing facilities strive to provide a personal residence that creates a comfortable, functional, and well-maintained home with a mission to take pride in the community.

Military family housing at Holloman AFB is privatized. The owner, Lend Lease/Soaring Heights Communities, is responsible for maintaining and managing the community neighborhoods.

We advise you to contact the Housing Management Office as soon as you know that you are moving to Holloman AFB. There, you will receive the latest information about privatized housing and help with the application process from the government housing team. You will also be informed about base-specific policies.

Applying here is similar to living in the local community. You will sign a tenant lease agreement, typically for a one-year term. Your lease will include a military clause and a lease termination clause. Rent is paid by authorizing an allotment of your BAH that is paid directly to the property manager.

If your family has school-aged children, the housing on base is within the Alamogordo Public School system. Holloman AFB includes two schools on base as well. For children in Kindergarten through 6th grade, they will attend Holloman Elementary School on base. For middle school children, they will attend Holloman Middle School, also located on base. High school students will attend Alamogordo High School, located off base. Bus transportation is available.

For those living off base, you will send students to a district appropriate based on location. Cloudcroft Municipal Schools and Tularosa Municipal Schools are also close to base, so it is important to research schools in the area before making a housing decision.
