Introduction

Welcome to Homestead Air Reserve Base located in Miami–Dade County, Florida. Homestead Air Reserve Base, formerly Homestead AFB, was first built in 1942 and today serves approximately 1,600 active duty service members, 1,200 reservists, and 325 civilians.

Driving Directions

From Miami International Airport

  1. From the airport, continue onto NW 21st St.
  2. Use the right two lanes to take the ramp to Downtown/FL-836 E/FL-836 W/S LeJeune
  3. Continue onto NW 12th Dr.
  4. Merge onto FL-836 W
  5. Take the exit onto FL-826 S
  6. Keep left at the fork to continue on FL-874 S, follow signs for Toll Rd/Homestead
  7. Merge onto Ronald Reagan Turnpike
  8. Take exit 9A for FL-989 S/SW 112th Ave.
  9. Slight right onto FL-989 S/SW 112th Ave.
  10. Turn right onto SW 268th St/Moody Dr.
  11. Turn left onto SW 127th Ave/Burr Rd.
  12. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit
  13. Turn left onto SW 288th St/Biscayne Dr.
  14. Continue onto Bougainville Blvd and the base is on the right

From Fort Lauderdale International Airport

  1. From the airport, head east on Lower Terminal Dr./Terminal Dr.
  2. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for I-595 W/I-95, and merge onto I-595 W
  3. Take exit 8-9A-9B for Florida’s Turnpike
  4. Merge onto W State Rd. 84
  5. Use the left lane to take the ramp to Miami S
  6. Merge onto Florida’s Turnpike
  7. Take the exit toward Homestead
  8. Continue onto Ronald Reagan Turnpike
  9. Continue onto Florida 821 Toll S/Ronald Reagan Turnpike
  10. Continue onto Ronald Reagan Turnpike
  11. Keep left to stay on Ronald Reagan Turnpike
  12. Take exit 9A for FL-989 S/SW 112th Ave.
  13. Slight right onto FL-989 S/SW 112th Ave.
  14. Turn right onto SW 268th St/Moody Dr.

  1. From the bus station, head north toward NW 25th St.
  2. Turn left onto NW 25th St

  4. Take the exit toward FL-836 W
  5. Merge onto FL-836 W
  6. Take the exit onto FL-826 S
  7. Keep left at the fork to continue on FL-874 S, follow signs for Toll Rd./Homestead

A visitor pass may be issued with two valid forms of identification, including driver’s license, military or school ID, social security card, voter’s registration card, birth certificate, passport, resident card, alien card, and foreign national ID with photo. Due to changing Covid restrictions, please make sure to check with Homestead Air Reserve Base ahead of time to make sure visitors will be permitted to enter.

Check-In Procedures for Incoming Personnel

One of the first things all military personnel must do after arriving at Homestead Air Reserve Base is check in. Make certain to drop by the Airman and Family Readiness Center as soon as possible so that they can provide you with any necessary assistance and important information, including family life education resources, relocation information, money management tips, employment assistance, loan closets, and information and referrals.
