Welcome to Little Rock Air Force Base, home of the 19th Airlift Wing and the heart of the Air Force’s C-130 tactical airlift community. Average Drive Times to Base Gates From Popular Cities

Little Rock, AR

From Little Rock, the most common route to Little Rock AFB is to take I-30 East toward North Little Rock, connect to I-40 East, and then follow US-67/US-167 North toward Jacksonville. Take Exit 11 and follow Vandenberg Boulevard approximately two miles to the Vandenberg Main Gate and Visitor Control Center.

Approximate drive time: 25 to 35 minutes.

Hot Springs, AR

From Hot Springs, the most common route to Little Rock AFB is to travel east toward the Little Rock metropolitan area using US-70 East and I-30 East. Continue toward North Little Rock, connect to I-40 East, and then take US-67/US-167 North toward Jacksonville. Use Exit 11 and follow Vandenberg Boulevard to the Main Gate and Visitor Control Center.

Approximate drive time: 1.5 to 2 hours.

Memphis, TN

From Memphis, the most common route to Little Rock AFB is to take I-40 West across Arkansas toward North Little Rock. From there, connect to US-67/US-167 North toward Jacksonville, take Exit 11, and follow Vandenberg Boulevard to the Main Gate and Visitor Control Center.

Approximate drive time: 2 to 2.5 hours.

Need Base Access? Here’s What You Need

Visitors who do not have a DoD-approved access credential must report to the Little Rock AFB Visitor Control Center before entering the installation. The Visitor Control Center is located in Building 1508 at the Vandenberg Main Gate, with parking accessible from Marshall Road at the traffic light immediately outside the gate. The office issues visitor passes, DBIDS cards, extended visitor passes, and Restricted Area Badges.

Little Rock AFB has suspended its Trusted Traveler Program until further notice and is conducting 100% identification checks. This means all visitors without an approved DoD credential must obtain a visitor pass, even when traveling with a military ID cardholder. Sponsors may accompany their guests to the Visitor Control Center or submit a remote sponsorship request through their government email at least 72 hours before the requested visit. Visitors must still appear in person to present valid identification and complete the required access screening.

Visitors should bring a valid, unexpired, REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another federally accepted form of identification, such as a U.S. passport. Visitors should also be prepared for identity verification and a background check before a pass is issued. The Visitor Control Center is generally open Monday through Friday from 0600 to 1630 and is closed on federal holidays, designated family days, and weekends. Because operating hours and access procedures can change based on security conditions, visitors should confirm current requirements before traveling to the base.

Foreign nationals and non-U.S. citizens may require additional advance coordination, sponsorship, and security vetting before being authorized to enter Little Rock AFB. Sponsors should contact the Visitor Control Center well before the planned visit for the applicable documentation and processing timeline. What ID Do You Need for Base Access?

Visitors without a DoD-issued credential should plan to stop at the Little Rock AFB Visitor Control Center for a visitor pass and security screening before entering the installation. Visitors must present a physical, valid state-issued photo ID or driver’s license; photographs or digital images of the identification are not accepted.

When bringing a vehicle onto the installation, visitors must also provide proof of current vehicle insurance and registration, which may be shown in physical or digital form.

Little Rock AFB’s Remote Sponsorship Program allows eligible military ID cardholders with sponsorship privileges to submit a visitor’s information electronically, so neither the sponsor nor the guest has to visit the Visitor Center while the pass is being processed. The program is limited to guests who are U.S. citizens and does not cover permanent residents or green card holders. Requests must be sent from a government email account using the required form at least three business days before the visit.

Gates & Hours of Operation

Knowing where Little Rock AFB’s gates are located can make arrival easier, especially because not every entrance operates around the clock. Normal gate hours may change during holidays, Air Mobility Command family days, construction, heightened security measures, or other special circumstances, so drivers should confirm current conditions before traveling to the installation.

Vandenberg Main Gate

The Vandenberg Gate is Little Rock AFB’s primary entrance and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located at 1500 Vandenberg Boulevard near Marshall Road, it also provides access to the Visitor Control Center and is the gate visitors should use when they need a base pass or other access assistance.

Arnold Gate

The Arnold Gate, commonly called the Back Gate, is located at 399 Arnold Drive and is accessed from Arkansas Highway 107 on the western side of the installation. Its standard operating hours are 0500 to 2200, although holiday and special-event closures may affect availability.

Visitors who need an access pass should process through the Visitor Control Center at the Vandenberg Main Gate before attempting to enter through Arnold Gate.

Harris Road Gate

The Harris Road Gate is closed, so drivers should use the Vandenberg Main Gate or the Arnold Gate instead.

Little Rock AFB Amenities & Facilities

Once you arrive at Little Rock AFB, it helps to know where a few important amenities and support facilities are located. From medical care to everyday services, these on-base resources can make your arrival and first few days easier to navigate.

Medical Center

The 19th Medical Group provides outpatient healthcare for eligible active-duty service members, military families, retirees, and other authorized beneficiaries at Little Rock AFB.

Available care includes primary and family medicine, pediatrics, immunizations, pharmacy services, laboratory testing, mental health support, physical therapy, dental care for active-duty members, and other clinical services. Patients who need specialty care or services unavailable on base may be referred to civilian providers through the TRICARE network.

Legal Office

Need help with a will, power of attorney, notarization, personal property claim, or another personal legal matter? The Little Rock AFB Legal Office provides legal assistance to eligible active-duty service members, retirees, dependents, and certain Reserve and National Guard members. The office also advises commanders on military justice, operational law, contracts, labor matters, and other mission-related legal issues.

Notary and power-of-attorney services are available on a walk-in basis, but all other legal assistance is generally provided by appointment. What housing options are available on-base?

On-base housing at Little Rock AFB includes privatized family housing through Little Rock Family Housing and Unaccompanied Housing for eligible single Airmen.

Privatized housing includes two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes across four neighborhoods: Lakeview Estates, Lower Meadow Woods, Ridgecrest Estates, and Upper Meadow Woods. Availability and eligibility vary by rank, family size, and military status.

Lakeview Estates

Lakeview Estates combines newly constructed homes for senior officers and field-grade officers with renovated three- and four-bedroom single-family homes. Ridgecrest Estates offers renovated two-, three-, and four-bedroom single-family homes in one of the community’s most activity-centered neighborhoods. Residents are close to the Welcome Center, community garden, off-leash dog park, children’s play area, and tot lots, with some homes offering wooded or lake views.

Upper Meadow Woods

Razorback Inn

The Razorback Inn is the official on-base lodging facility at Little Rock AFB and is generally the most convenient place to begin your search. Its temporary lodging facilities include one- and two-bedroom suites for accompanied PCS families, with cooking facilities, dishwashers, in-room washers and dryers, refrigerators, microwaves, and sleeper sofas.

A limited number of pet-friendly rooms are available, so families traveling with animals should call directly for availability and restrictions.
