NAF EL CENTRO HOUSING: 2 ON-BASE OPTIONS

Introduction

Welcome to NAF El Centro, located in southwest California; located on the Mexican border in the Imperial Valley midway between San Diego and Yuma, AZ. Being in the Mojave Desert, in a relatively small community, you may not want to buy a home or rent out in the local community. If that is the case for you, on-base housing is a great option for a comfortable living situation right near work and all the perks of the base. This guide will help you figure out your on-base housing options on NAF El Centro and get you started.

California BAH

Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) is provided for your base based on your rank and location. BAH is given if housing on-base is not available and you are looking at living in the surrounding area. NAF El Centro Barracks and Dorms

Unaccompanied personnel in the ranks of E1-E3 and E-4 with fewer than four years’ service are eligible for a room. Accommodations are one or two person rooms based on pay grade and square footage. Building 401 will serve as your check-in point and you will be provided linens. The barracks have lounges with TV’s, laundry rooms, and vending machines. There are also recreational, fitness, educational, and religious facilities all within easy walking distance as well as the rest of the base’s amenities. Resident Advisors (RA) and geographic bachelors may also apply to live on base depending on availability.

To apply for NAF El Centro base family housing, contact the Housing Service Center as soon as you receive your orders to NAF El Centro. The housing team can inform you of the process and notify you of current wait times for housing if any. For any other information, both accompanied or unaccompanied, on-base or off-base housing, you can check out the Navy’s housing website here. Housing on-base is a public-private partnership with Lincoln Military Housing. The Navy manages your housing application and the waitlist. The Privatized Managing Partner manages the lease signing, property management, and meeting the residents’ needs.

NAF El Centro Housing Options

There are two neighborhoods on NAF El Centro split between Officers and Enlisted with various floor plans and amenities. The community is entirely pet friendly including large breed dogs though there are some restrictions on numbers and breeds.

  • Pet friendly
  • Playgrounds and tot lots
  • Resident activities and events

1. New Fund Housing - Enlisted

: E1-E6 This neighborhood has three and four bedroom homes with a carport, full kitchen, and patios. This neighborhood is within easy walking distance to the base Exchange and Commissary, fitness centers, officer and enlisted clubs, theater, water park, and bowling alley!

2. New Fund Housing - Officer

Ranks

: E7-O7 This neighborhood features three and four bedroom homes equipped with a full kitchen, patio, carport, master suite, laundry room. The neighborhood is within easy walking distance of the base Exchange and Commissary, fitness centers, officer and enlisted clubs, theater, water park, and bowling alley.

Conclusion

NAF El Centro is a small but comfortable base just a two hour drive from San Diego, Big Bear, Palm Springs and more making it a great central location for lots of excursion and exploring.
