Introduction

Welcome to Naval Air Station Patuxent River! Located in St. Mary’s County in Maryland, Naval Air Station Patuxent River is home to Headquarters, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, the Atlantic Test Range, and Patuxent River Naval Air Museum. The station also serves as a center for test and evaluation and systems acquisition relating to naval aviation. The station also operates NOLF Webster field.

Naval Air Station Patuxent River is also home to the Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 1, Scientific Development Squadron 1, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 20, Rotary Wing Test Squadron 21, and Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is the closest major airport to NAS Patuxent River. It is located about 68 miles from the station. A base shuttle runs twice a day from Ronald Reagan National Airport. Call the Transportation Office at 1 (301) 342-5088 to schedule a pick-up.

From Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport
All highways leading to the base are well marked.

  1. Those arriving by car from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport should take Route 1 to Interstate 95 towards Baltimore.
  2. At Exit 7A, take State Route 5 South to Route 235 (doing so requires no exit).
  3. Follow 235 to 712, then take Pine Hill Run Rd.

Military personnel reporting to Naval Air Station Patuxent River should report to the Command Duty Office for in-processing. Personnel should coordinate their arrival with their sponsor or the Command Duty Office to help prevent transportation issues.
