Welcome to Detroit Arsenal, located in the city of Warren smack in the middle of the Detroit, Michigan, metropolitan area. The post sits on about 178 acres of land with approximately 7,500 civilian and contract workers and 250 military personnel. Detroit Arsenal, previously known as the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant, hosts several defense organizations, including Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Defense Logistics Agency, and more. Entering Detroit Arsenal and Amenities
All drivers on post must have a valid military ID, a Veteran’s or retiree ID, a valid driver’s license, and a valid vehicle insurance card. All visitors must stop by the Detroit Arsenal Visitor Center/Welcome Center located off of MacArthur Drive as you enter the post from the south.Check-In Procedures for Incoming Personnel
For all military personnel arriving during duty hours, you must report to the Military Personnel Office in William A. Pfromm Education Center. You must have your visitor’s pass while on the installation, and you must in-process through your assigned unit on post. Service members that are assigned to the National Guard and Reserve Units are required to report to their individual units for in-processing. You will need the following documents on-hand for your processing appointment: orders and mandates, all travel receipts, an envelope from your losing post, and any graduation certificates. Detroit Arsenal has two gates, although Gate 38 is closed until further notice. The main gate is off of MacArthur Drive, and it takes you between 11 Mile Road and 12 Mile Road to the Visitor Control Center.Main Gate (Mound Road Access Control Point):

The Detroit Arsenal installation itself is located in the small city of Warren, Michigan, just north of Detroit proper. Located in Macomb County, Warren, Michigan, is just 15 miles north of Detroit and surrounds Detroit Arsenal. Convenience is the key here; if you live in Warren, you’ll be located minutes from post. Detroit Schools
Detroit Arsenal has no elementary or secondary schools on post. For school-aged children living on post, they will be bussed to the Warren Consolidated Schools district that serves the Warren, Michigan, area. Any child requiring before or after school care must attend Pearl Lean Elementary School so that they can be bussed to the Detroit Arsenal Child Development Center. There is also bussing from post to St. Anne’s Catholic School located on Mound Road just outside of Detroit Arsenal.
