At Fort Leonard Wood, military family housing is privatized. In addition to your option to purchase and rent housing in the local community, you may choose to live in privatized housing by signing a tenant lease agreement with Fort Leonard Wood Homes by Balfour Beatty Communities, which owns the family housing and is responsible for constructing, maintaining, repairing, and managing the community. Fort Leonard Wood's military family housing communities offer a variety of house styles and floor plans. Neighborhoods feature community centers, playgrounds, splash parks, picnic areas, sports courts, and more. School-age children living in Fort Leonard Wood military housing attend schools in the Waynesville R-VI School District. There are no DOD schools on post. 4. Piney Estates

E9, O5-O6 The Piney Estates neighborhood has four-bedroom homes with porches and garages. The community is close to Thayer Elementary School and a community center, playground, and splash park.

5. Piney Hills

E5-E9, O1-O4 The Piney Hills neighborhood has two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes with porches and either a carport or a garage. The community is close to Thayer Elementary School and a community center, playground, and splash park.

6. South Lieber Heights

E1-E9, O1-O6, military retirees, DOD employees Homes in the South Lieber Heights neighborhood have patios, carports, and two to four bedrooms. The neighborhood is close to a community center, fitness center, splash park, playground, and picnic pavilion. South Lieber Heights is also within walking distance of Wood Elementary School and has easy access to the post’s north and west gates.

7. Woodlands

Ranks:

E1-E4, O1-O3 The Woodlands neighborhood has homes with three to four bedrooms, garages, and patios. This neighborhood is near a community center, playgrounds, Partridge Elementary School, and the post’s north and west gates.
