Welcome to your new posting at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. Located on the southeast side of Washington D.C., the installation is just off of I-295 and supports over 17,000 military personnel and civilians. It sits on 1,018 acres in between the Potomac and Anacostia rivers. The JBAB housing options are also plentiful here, and we’re sure you’ll find something to meet your needs.

The community around JBAB embraces its military neighbors, and you’ll be sure to feel welcome as you settle into the JBAB housing neighborhoods or the surrounding area. This guide is meant to be a resource as you find a place to call home at your new posting at JBAB.

Most unaccompanied personnel with ranks E1-E3 and E4 with less than four years of service are required to live in the JBAB barracks. All ranks above this may also be eligible depending on availability in unaccompanied housing.

Your accommodations in the JBAB barracks include one or two-person rooms based on your pay grade. Linens will be provided once you check in, and lounges in each facility include televisions, washer/dryers, and vending machines. Each barracks includes recreational, dining, religious, educational, fitness, and other amenities.

The JBAB Housing Service Center is there to support you and make your move as easy as possible. They will aid you even if you decide to live off base, so we recommend heading here as soon as you arrive.

Bolling Family Homes at Hunt Military Communities

Bolling Family Homes at Hunt Military Communities

One of the options you’ll have for on-base housing is the Bolling Family Homes communities. The housing here is privatized and owned by Hunt Military Communities. You’ll be smack dab in the center of historic Washington, D.C., here and enjoy the pricing and quality of living that is the standard with Hunt Housing. JBAB personnel and their families will be taken care of with many great amenities in their homes and within the community itself.

A gated community, softball fields, riverfront park, walking paths, fitness center, 24-hour emergency maintenance, and landscaping services are just some of the amenities offered in the Bolling Family Homes communities. Be sure to keep up-to-date with any community events.

Bolling Family Homes Neighborhoods

Doolittle Park
Rank: E1-O6 and non-active applicants

In Doolittle Park, you’ll have your choice of three- to four-bedroom townhomes. Amenities include a carport, private patio, ample closet space, central AC, and more.

New Hickam Village
Rank: O4-O5

New Hickam Village offers up three- and four-bedroom single-family homes that were all built in 2011. Here, you’ll be close to the fitness center, neighborhood center, and rental clubhouse, making New Hickam Village conveniently located. Amenities here include brick and vinyl siding, recessed lighting, tile flooring, fenced backyards, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a covered patio, and more.

The Rickenbacker neighborhood is made up of three- and four-bedroom townhomes (including ADA-accessible homes), all built in 2005. The amenities here feature things like private patios, washer/dryer hookups, utility allowances, energy star appliances, central AC, and more.

Hooe Terrace

In Hooe Terrace, you’ll find three- and four-bedroom townhomes with ADA accessibility in mind. Amenities include a garage, patio, high-speed internet connections, plenty of closet space, a two-pet maximum, stainless-steel sinks, and more.

Westover Estates North
Rank: O6

The homes in Westover Estates are perfect for gatherings with family and friends. The four-bedroom floor plans offer plenty of space in these single-family homes built in 1975, with renovations done in 2012. You have amenities that include a carport, covered porch, dishwasher, refrigerator, gated community, carpeting, washer/dryer hookups, and more.

Bellevue Housing by Lincoln Military Housing

The area around the Bellevue housing community is full of a wide range of activities, attractions, and historic sites. You’ll find plenty to do within the historic districts around Bellevue housing. JBAB is just north of the community here, making for prime convenience. Plus, you’ll be just 4 miles from the National Harbor Marina for a day of shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Bellevue housing is privatized and owned by Lincoln Military Housing. JBAB personnel can enjoy plenty of comforts in this community, as it serves E1-E9 and affiliated civilians. The townhomes that make up Bellevue housing are pet friendly and even include a fenced-in backyard where they run free.

The community itself has plenty of amenities, as well, that include basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, grilling stations, a clubhouse, and so much more. There’s an emphasis on togetherness in this community, and Lincoln Military Housing provides a well-maintained neighborhood for you and your family once you transfer to JBAB. Housing maintenance is also provided 24 hours a day, every day.

The housing here is all included in one big neighborhood that offers two- to 3-bedroom townhomes. Amenities in each townhome include air conditioning, washer/dryer connections, skylights, ceiling fans, a gas range, a dishwasher, and available garages.

One of the more stressful things that you can do is move, and we hope this guide on JBAB housing has helped relieve some of that stress for you. We do recommend that you plan ahead and apply to the JBAB housing options before your move, as there may be wait times for certain neighborhoods.
