Introduction

Welcome to Patrick AFB (now Space Force Base)! Located between the cities of Satellite Beach and Cocoa Beach in Brevard County, Patrick is the home of the 45th Space Wing. In addition to the 45th Space Wing’s duties as the host wing, they also operate the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) and the Eastern Range. Patrick Space Force Base is also home to the 920th Rescue Wing, the Air Force Technical Application Center, and the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI). There are around 13,00 military, dependents, civilian employees and contractors on base, and the base has a population of about 1,200 residents. All highways leading to the base are well marked.
  • If arriving by car, head south on I-95 and take exit 205.
  • Follow State Road SR 528 East toward Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach. SR528 will become SR A1A.
  • Follow A1A South toward Cocoa Beach to the main gate of Patrick Air Force Base.

Several shuttles go to Patrick Space Force Base hourly. Pick up is at ground level, Space #18.

Check-in Procedures for Incoming Personnel

Military personnel reporting to Patrick Air Force Base for in-processing should check in with the unit Commander Support Staff. If an emergency should arise, contact the base operator at 321-494-1110 and ask to be connected to your unit orderly room. If you are unable to reach your unit, call the Patrick Command Post at 321-494-7001. Be sure and bring all personnel records including medical and dental as well as several copies of your orders. Military personnel should report for in-processing in uniform. Cities Near Patrick AFB (Now Space Force Base)

While many military family members call base housing their home, others choose to live in nearby communities. The neighboring communities of Palm Bay and Melbourne are to the south. Cocoa Beach, Rockledge, Cocoa, Merritt Island, and Cape Canaveral are all situated to the north of the base. Located in Brevard County, Palm Bay is a city with a population of around 100,000 people. Located 23 miles from the Patrick Space Force Base, the city offers new residents a thriving community. The town was incorporated in 1957 and grew in notoriety due to the space program which is located just 15 miles from the town at the John F. Kennedy Space Center. Cocoa was a city founded by fishermen in the 1860s and the current population is about 16,000.The city is also located just 18 miles from the Patrick Air Force Base. Local attractions include the Indian River Cruises which offers visitors a trip down the Indian River by boat with a meal included. Merritt Island, FL

Merritt Island is also located in Brevard County. The current population is about 36,000 people. The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center are located on the northern part of the island. The majority of people live in the central part of the island, and Patrick Air Force Base is located just 18 miles away. The Cocoa Beach Thousand Islands Dolphin and Manatee Tour offers up close and personal encounters with dolphins and manatees in the wild will be the highlight of the visit.

Cape Canaveral, FL

Cape Canaveral is the site of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, and the city lies just to the south of it. Many U.S. spacecraft are launched from both the station and the Kennedy Space Center, and it is the hub of the space program. The city is located just 18 miles from the Patrick Air Force Base.
