Entering Laughlin Air Force Base and AmenitiesIf you do not have a valid military ID, you may have to stop at the visitor control center to gain base access. Click here for more information on the visitor control center at Laughlin AFB.
Check-in Procedures for Incoming PersonnelUpon arrival, contact your assigned unit and your sponsor for specific in-processing instructions and information. Incoming student pilots can bring their in-processing documents to the 47th Student Squadron Transition Office to ensure the proper in-processing steps have been completed prior to base in-processing. The transition office can be reached at 1 (830) 298-5211. Incoming permanent party personnel in-processing is handled at the Military Personnel Element Customer Service Office. This office can be reached at 1 (830) 298-5276. Military personnel must bring all personnel, medical, and financial records for in-processing. Incoming civilian personnel can contact the Civilian Personnel Office at 1 (830) 298-5806. Incoming personnel will be scheduled for a newcomer's orientation, which provides briefings about support services at the base. Spouses are encouraged to attend this orientation. Del RioLaughlin AFB is just east of the city of Del Rio. The city has a population of approximately 36,000 people. Del Rio offers residents a host of recreational and outdoor opportunities. Del Rio is home to the Amistad National Recreation Area and Devils River State Natural Area. More outdoor adventures can be had at the city's parks, swimming pools, and athletic fields. If you want to head indoors, you can learn about the city's history at the Whitehead Memorial Museum and enjoy the fine arts at the Firehouse Gallery.

Laughlin AFB SchoolsThere are many options for your child's education near Laughlin AFB. Texas offers traditional public schools, as well as public charter schools and private schools. For younger children, there are a variety of local daycares and child care programs on and off base. Children who live on base may attend schools in the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District. There are no DoDEA schools on base. Laughlin AFB WeatherLaughlin AFB has hot summers and mild winters. In the summer, temperatures can soar to the high 90s, with average lows in the 70s. In winter, average highs are in the 60s, with average lows in the 40s. Laughlin AFB gets about 20 inches of rain annually. Obviously snow is rare with such high winter temperatures, but snow is not out of the question. In February 2021, Del Rio saw record snowfall when a winter storm brought more than 10 inches of snow to the area.
