SCHRIEVER AFB WELCOME CENTER (NOW SCHRIEVER SPACE FORCE BASE)

By Rachel Childs

Introduction

Welcome to Schriever Air Force Base (now Space Force Base) in Colorado. Schriever AFB is one of the newest bases in the Air Force. The missions at Schriever AFB fall under the Space Operations Command field command and the U.S. Space Force. The base has no flightline or aircraft mission. Instead, the base’s mission is to command space and cyber systems. Schriever Space Force Base employs approximately 8,000 military and civilian personnel. The base is home to the Space Innovation and Development Center, the Missile Defense Agency, the 310th Space Wing, and numerous tenant organizations. For a full list of units and agencies at Schriever Space Force Base, visit the base's website. Note: Some of the services normally provided at an Air Force base are not available at Schriever Space Force Base. Garrison support for multiple bases and stations supporting the Space Force missions was consolidated in 2020, so many services are available at nearby Peterson AFB.
