Sesquicentennial State Park Offers Many Ways To Enjoy Nature

One thing is for sure; there’s more than one way to enjoy the Sesquicentennial State Park. During your visit to a park built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, you’ll have access to:

• 1,419 acres of pristine parkland.
• The 30-acre Sesquicentennial Lake.
• 12 miles worth of trails for hiking and biking.
• Multiple campsites for both primitive and modern camping.
• A splash pad featuring 26 sprayers.
• The picnicking areas, which are great for lunch and hosting events.
• A dog park for your furry friend to play in.

All in all, the park is one of the highlights of any trip to South Carolina. It’s easy to see why it continues to be a local hotspot for getting outdoors, recreation, and just having good ole fashioned fun!

Hours and Information

You can find the Sesquicentennial State Park at 9564 Two Notch Rd., Columbia, SC 29223. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. until sunset, Sesqui continues to be one of the go-to parks in Columbia, SC, due to its availability and range of outdoor activities. The office is open daily from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Admission is very affordable, as the cost is only $6 per adult and $3.75 per child between the ages of 6 and 15. Children under 6 are free, and seniors ages 65+ are only $3.75 per person. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet unless they're in the dog park. There's a $25 per year per dog permit required for the dog park, which is prorated and expires on July 1st. Day passes for dogs are available for $4. Additional fees may apply. It’s important to note that in order to obtain a permit for your dog, you’ll need to have them present and able to take a photo ID. Not only will you need an ID, but you’ll also need to prove that your pet has been vaccinated for kennel cough, parvo, and rabies, as well as the fact that they've been spayed/neutered. Camping is permitted only for short-term use. All campers are allowed to stay a maximum of 14 nights at the park. Sesquicentennial State Park Campground is one of the best RV parks in Columbia, SC, and while traditional camping sports are available, the park can accommodate RVs and modern campers, as well. It’s important to note that

there is no WiFi in the park.

Visitors are allowed to bring their own boat to enjoy Sesquicentennial Lake, but swimming and wading are not allowed. Boats cannot use a gasoline engine and must be carried to the water, as there is no boat ramp nor are vehicles allowed to launch boats. Canoeing, kayaking, and pedal boating are all allowed. Boats must be off of the water one hour before the park closes. If you don’t have your own boat, rentals are available at the park. Picnic shelters can be reserved for your events.
