NAS JRB FORT WORTH: IN-DEPTH WELCOME CENTER

By Will Borger

Introduction

Welcome to Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth! NAS JRB Fort Worth is the successor to Naval Air Station Dallas and incorporates other Reserve commands and activities, primarily those of the Air Force Reserve, that was present on site when the installation was known as Carswell Air Force Base. The facility was formerly under the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and was later transferred to the Air Combat Command (ACC). NAS JRB Fort Worth is the headquarters of the Air Force Reserve Command’s Tenth Air Force and is home to the 301st Fighter Wing and the 136th Air Wing of the Texas Air National Guard. As a joint reserve base, NAS JRB Fort Worth is home to a variety of Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and Texas Air National Guard units. Established on October 1, 1994, as the first joint reserve base in the country, NAS JRB Fort Worth’s mission is to provide unsurpassed support and quality training to reserve and guard "warfighters" in all branches of the Armed Services. The base’s 10,000 active duty military, reserve and guard personnel, and civilian team members work hard to accomplish that mission, and NAS JRB Fort Worth takes great pride in its contributions to national defense and to the community. For more information about the base, including a full list of units at NAS JRB Fort Worth, visit the base’s website.
