Introduction

Welcome to Naval Base Point Loma , located just on the north end of the beautiful San Diego Bay. The area is lovely and has access to a lot that San Diego has to offer from beaches to SeaWorld to downtown. As part of the great San Diego Naval Complex, you’ll have access to housing all around the area. If you decide that the time isn’t right to buy a house or you’re not ready financially, on-base housing is a great option. This guide will help you figure out your on-base housing options on Point Loma Naval Base to get you started.

Naval Base Point Loma BAH

Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) is provided for your base based on your rank and location. BAH is given if housing on-base is not available and you are looking at living in the surrounding area. Naval Base Point Loma Barracks

Unaccompanied personnel can find housing through the Unaccompanied Housing office. Unaccompanied personnel in the ranks of E1-E3 and E4’s with fewer than four years’ service are eligible for unaccompanied housing. Each Sailor is provided with a private sleeping room, furnishings, bed linens and cleaning supplies. Unaccompanied is located on all the San Diego Metro Navy installations, housing approximately 8,540 personnel across 50 buildings. Your assignment will depend on your exact duty location and unit/ship assigned. Resident advisors and geographic bachelors may also apply to stay on base depending on availability.

To apply for Naval Base San Diego family housing, contact the Military Housing Service Center as soon as you receive your orders to Point Loma Naval Base. The MHSC team can inform you of the process and notify you of current wait times for housing, if any. For any other information, both accompanied or unaccompanied, on-base or off-base housing, you can check out the Navy’s housing website here. Housing on-base is a public-private partnership with Liberty Military Housing. The Navy manages your housing application and the waitlist. The Privatized Managing Partner manages the lease signing, property management, and meeting the residents’ needs.

Naval Base Point Loma Housing Options

There are a whopping 40 distinct neighborhoods for personnel assigned to Point Loma that exist within the San Diego Metro Navy Installations complex. However, there are only 7 options located on-base. Each community features various floor plans and amenities. Be aware that some neighborhoods and floor plans are only available to personnel who meet rank minimum rank requirements.
