NCBC GULFPORT HOUSING: 7 ON-BASE OPTIONS

Introduction

Welcome to Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) Gulfport, located just 15 minutes west of the city of Biloxi, MS. Right along the Gulf Coast with easy access to New Orleans and Biloxi, this base is in a prime location. When moving to a new duty station, you may not be sure about buying a house in the local area or prefer not to house hunt out in town. If that’s the case, on-base housing may be the best option for you. This guide will help you figure out your on-base housing options on NCBC Gulfport and get you started.

BAH Gulfport, MS

Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) is provided for your base based on your rank and location. BAH is given if housing on-base is not available and you are looking at living in the surrounding area. NCBC Gulfport Barracks

Unaccompanied personnel can find housing through the Unaccompanied Housing office. Unaccompanied personnel in the ranks of E1-E3 are eligible for rooms in the barracks. E4s may seek accommodation if there is space available. There are two locations, one on NCBC Gulfport with six buildings holding roughly 1,200 personnel and one on NSF Lakeside with two buildings for 458 personnel. Accommodations are one to two man-rooms depending on pay grade. Bldg. 309 on Fifth St is the check in point. Linens are provided on check in. The barracks facilities include lounges, washers and dryers, and vending machines in all buildings. Within walking distance are key base amenities such as fitness centers, dining facilities, and religious and educational centers.

NCBC Gulfport Housing Office

To apply for NCBC Gulfport base family housing, contact the Military Housing Office as soon as you receive your orders to NCBC Gulfport. The MHO team can inform you of the process and notify you of current wait times for housing, if any. For any other information, both accompanied or unaccompanied, on-base or off-base housing, you can check out the Navy’s housing website here. Housing on-base is a public-private partnership with NCBC Gulfport Homes. The Navy manages your housing application and the waitlist. The Privatized Managing Partner manages the lease signing, property management, and meeting the residents’ needs.

NCBC Gulfport Housing Options

There are seven distinct neighborhoods on NCBC Gulfport with various floor plans and amenities. The community is entirely pet friendly including large breed dogs though there are some restrictions on numbers and breeds.

Note:

Even though some neighborhoods may include all ranks, only certain units within that neighborhood may be available to certain ranks. Though some neighborhoods are open to all ranks, certain floor plans may be restricted to those of higher rank.

1. Magnolia I

Ranks:

E1-E6, O1-O6, Military Retirees, DoD Employees This neighborhood has two to four bedroom homes with a fenced-in backyard, covered patio, central air, garage, and fully equipped kitchens. Located near the base’s main gate, it has a community pool, basketball court, and multiple playgrounds.

2. Magnolia II

Ranks:

E1-E6, O1-O6 This neighborhood features three and four bedroom homes featuring a fully equipped kitchen, central air, master suite with walk-in closet, garage, covered patio, and fenced-in backyard. There is easy access to several playgrounds, the community pool, and a basketball court.

3. Nickel Creek

Ranks:

E-1-E9, O1-O6 This neighborhood features three and four bedroom homes including a fenced-in backyard, garage, master suite with walk-in closet, and central air. It is located off-base in Slidell, LA. Nickel Creek is 16 miles from Stennis Space Center, MS and offers easy access to the I-10, I-12, and I-59.

4. Northpointe Preserve

Ranks:

E1-E6, O1-O6, military retirees, DoD employees This neighborhood features three and four bedroom homes that include a fully-equipped kitchen, central air, master suite with walk-in closet, screened-in porch, and garage. The neighborhood is located off-base about 16 miles north, with easy access to the I-10. There are plenty of shopping and dining options nearby.

5. Pinewood

Ranks:

E1-E6, O1-O6, military retirees, DoD employees This neighborhood features two and three bedroom homes with a fully equipped kitchen, central air, fenced-in backyard, garage, and covered patio. This neighborhood is conveniently located near the base commissary and gym with easy access to multiple playgrounds and a basketball court.

6. Woodlands I

Ranks:

E7, O1-O6 This neighborhood features three and four bedroom homes including an open floor plan, garage, master suite with walk-in closet, and central air. The neighborhood is located near Seabee Lake and Park and has its own playground.

7. Woodlands II

Ranks:

E1-E6, O1-O6 This neighborhood features three and four bedroom homes that include a fully-equipped kitchen, central air, master suite with walk-in closet, covered patio, and garage. The neighborhood is located near Seabee Lake and Park and has its own playground.

Conclusion

When you’re moving every few years with the military, buying a home may not be the right choice for you. Luckily, there are plenty of options and resources on base to get you settled with less stress so you can enjoy your new home. On-base housing is a great option for its ease, safety, and familiarity.
