The B. Bryan Reserve
If you are looking for things to do in Mendocino County, California, the B. Bryan Reserve is a great place to start. This reserve is dedicated to preserving and breeding African hoofstock, with over 100 acres of preserve to home their animals.
Within this reserve there are multiple breeds of antelope, zebras, and the critically endangered Nubian Giraffe. Tours of the B. Bryan Reserve are available in either self-driving tours or guided tours, each of which end with a hand-feeding of the giraffe. Montgomery Woods

Not only is it a wonderful place for a picnic, but there is also a three-mile trail in the reserve that goes upstream from Montgomery Creek to five separate redwood groves that have never been logged. This spot is perfect for anyone who likes to surround themselves with the beauty of nature.
Glass Beach
If inlands are not your style, how about going to the coast to enjoy the Glass Beach? There are actually three glass beaches, all formed from former city trash dump sites that eventually transformed the trash into smooth, colored sea glass. Glass Beach is a beautiful place to explore, just make sure not to take anything with you.
Mendocino County Fair
For those of you who are looking for something more than just scenery and relaxation, how about the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show, which is a tradition that started almost 100 years ago. This festival only comes once a year, but it boasts a flourishing wine industry and holds bountiful displays such as:
- Floral displays
- Home-canned specialties
- Feature booths
- Tatted, quilted, knitted and other domestic items
