Rainbow School individualizes instruction and curriculum based on each child’s interest and ability, with the goal of helping children develop to their full potential. Rainbow School began in Kahuku as a one classroom non-profit educational and childcare service in 1972. The center and main office is currently located at 56-463 Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku. Rainbow School Kahuku enjoys the distinction of being the first nationally accredited school in Hawaii. Since 1972, Rainbow Schools has expanded to include five additional centers: • Rainbow School Wahiawa opened in 1989 • Rainbow School Kaneohe opened in 1991 • Rainbow School Mililani opened in 1995 • Rainbow School Honolulu was opened in 1996 Our services are intended to meet the needs of young children between three months and five years of age. Our organization seeks national accreditations for all of its centers. In 1986, Rainbow School Kahuku became the first center in the State of Hawaii to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our schools seek national accreditation through either the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) or the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA). Rainbow School accepts children of any race, religion, national or ethnic origin. Children with special needs are considered on an individual basis. We serve children whose needs can reasonably be accommodated by our facilities and program. All of the Rainbow School locations are licensed by the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services.
