Accredited by the American College of Radiology, the women’s imaging center provides a full range of services designed to screen for and detect early breast cancer.
Tripler Radiology provides screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, MRI and biopsy procedures. Current recommendations for screening mammography are annually for women 40 years and older who have no breast-related symptoms or 10 years before the age of a first-degree relative diagnosed with breast cancer. For example if your sister or mother were diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 45, you would begin screening mammograms at the age of 35. Several initiatives have been implemented to facilitate scheduling of screening mammograms. Eligible women with a primary care provider may schedule their own mammograms without a referral by calling 433-2778, option #8 then #5. Appointments may also be scheduled simply by coming by the front desk of the Women’s Imaging Center during clinic hours. Your mammogram will be interpreted by a board-certified radiologist and results will be sent to you in the mail and will be available to your primary care provider. If further imaging or procedures are necessary the Women’s Imaging Center will call you for further scheduling and consultation. While screening mammography does not take the place of an annual exam with your provider, it is our goal to increase your access to care.
