Fort Belvoir is an Army post on the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia. It’s a large post that’s divided into three main areas: the main post, Davidson Army Airfield, and Fort Belvoir North. Settled on land that was once a plantation, and founded during World War I, Fort Belvoir originally served as a training school for the U.S. Army Engineers. Now, nineteen agencies and numerous divisions, battalions, and commands use Fort Belvoir as their operating headquarters.
