About Tyndall AFB
Tyndall Air Force Base is located on a peninsula southeast of Panama City and is surrounded by the East Bay, the Saint Andrew Bay, and the Saint Andrew Sound. Once a wild land of heavy brush and swamps, Tyndall was founded as a gunnery range in 1941. The base was named after Florida native and recipient of the Silver Star, Lieutenant Francis B.
