Weapons registration

The Alaska state law that permits the carrying of “concealed” handguns by private citizens is NOT valid on any U.S. Army or other DoD installations or properties.

Forts Wainwright and Greely have comprehensive privately owned weapons policies. All personnel desiring to possess privately owned weapons on the installations must be familiar with and comply with the provisions stipulated in the respective policies prior to attempting to enter the installation with a privately owned weapon. Both forts Wainwright and Greely maintain copies of the garrisons’ privately owned weapons policies for customers. The Fort Wainwright privately owned weapon firearms policy #19 is available under FWA Policy Letters at www.wainwright.army.mil. The Fort Greely privately owned weapons policy Memorandum #13 online at www.fortgreelymwr.com under Recreation/Skeet and Trap Range.
