Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR)
The MWR Division Director, administrative staff and project managers promote and maintain the well-being and quality of life for military personnel and family members through the operation of the station’s MWR Programs. Eligible Patrons for most MWR activities include: active-duty personnel, military retirees, active-duty family members, military retiree family members and DOD civilian employees. Marketing and Sponsorship
Located in Building 1417, this office is the information center for the MWR department. The marketing director is the point of contact for sponsorship, special events and command briefs. Annual special events include Fall Festival and Sports Day, Energy Conservation 5K Fun Run, Family Christmas Party, Easter Eggstravanganza, Military Travel Show, Luau, Color Me American 5K Fun Run and Back to School Bash. The marketing director may be reached by calling 850-665-6102.
The Unit Allocation Form is used by Commands to request recreational unit funds for Command sponsored activities. In accordance with CNIC Instruction which states: “A command’s annual unit recreation fund allocation is calculated at a standard rate of $10 per assigned military member per year. Only those active-duty military personnel who have been assigned or attached to a command for 30 days or more will be eligible for credit and support. Mobile units are eligible for such support only for the period during which the unit participates as a member of the MWR fund. Expenditures by participating units should be recreational in nature and in accordance with this instruction. REGCOMs/Installation COs or OIC of tenant commands should request funds in writing from the region/installation MWR program manager, along with a listing of all assigned military members.” Funds can be requested quarterly. Come to Ace’s Pub and enjoy a wide array of aviation-oriented memorabilia as you sit at the bar. The fully stocked bar and light menu items are perfect for socializing Friday afternoons following a hard week’s work. Open 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Ace’s is the perfect way to start your weekend. Our MWR Archery Range is located on
USS Intrepid Street just next to the Catch and Release Ponds. Open sunrise to sunset daily. Archery Safety Cards can be obtained from the Fitness Center and are required for all personnel using the range. After reading a quick set of rules, a test consisting of 15 questions is administered. As long as no more than four are missed, authorized employees can issue an Archery Safety Card for the patron. Call 850-623-7412 for additional details.
Features — A variety of stand-alone targets set at distances of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards. There is also a selection of three dimensional “animal” targets set at a variety of challenging distances.
Athletic Gear Issue
Athletic gear is available for issue on a day-to-day loan basis. Simply call 850-623-7412, and items can be picked up at the fitness center after a checkout form is completed. The fitness center is open 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Features — Disc golf sets, horseshoes, basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, volleyballs and softball gear. Ice chests and water coolers are also available but must be checked out at Community Recreation in Building 1417.
Catch and Release Fishing
Our Catch and Release fishing ponds are adjacent to the Archery Range on USS Intrepid Street. A state fishing license is required to fish at our ponds. The Catch and Release Ponds are full of catfish, bass and crappie. Please be respectful of our environment. The site is open from sunrise to sunset daily. Clear Creek RV Park
Located just outside the West Gate of NAS Whiting Field, we offer 10 sites for RV parking and hook-up. Electric, water and sewer are provided. Our on-site bath house and laundry facility are both handicap accessible. Reservations can be made through the MWR Navy Community Recreation Program Tickets and Travel Office at 850-665-6250.
All reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis without regard to rate or rank. Reservations may be made in 30-day increments for up to 180 days for active-duty members, retirees and reservists. Check-in time is 2 p.m. with a checkout of no later than 12 p.m.
The NAS Whiting Field Clear Creek RV Park is conveniently located near on-base resources such as: Navy Exchange, Commissary, Pen Air Federal Credit Union, ATM, Coffee Shop, Gymnasium and Swimming Pool.
Features — Full hook-up sites 30/50 amps, free laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, bathhouse, basic cable, pet friendly and a picnic table on every site. The RV Park is adjacent to the Clear Creek Nature Trail and our Disc Golf Course.
Disc Golf Course
The Disc Golf Course is located near the Nature Trail just north of Whiting Field’s West Gate. It is nicknamed the Gopher Holes due to the prevalence of Gopher Tortoises in the surrounding area. There is NO FEE to use this wooded nine-hole course which is open sunrise to sunset daily.
Discs and maps are available for check-out at the Fitness Center or at the Liberty Center, located on the second floor of Building 2958. The course is adjacent to the Clear Creek RV Park and the Clear Creek Nature Trail.
Features — Concrete launching pads, regulation chain baskets, hole kiosks, challenging wooded course, rest areas, pet-friendly area, nature preserve and restroom facilities.
The Fitness Center, Building 3148, is located on the corner of USS Yorktown Street and USS Saratoga Street. This world-class facility hosts a complete range of machines and activities to fulfill your exercise needs. The locker rooms are equipped with a sauna and steam room. Children ages 10 to 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is a $5 guest fee for guests (one guest per ID card). Call 850-623-7412 with any questions about eligibility.
We are a full service fitness center and gym featuring the following: PRT certified cardio, Selectorized equipment, free weights, TRX pull-up bars, group exercise classes, basketball court, complete with volleyball setup, glassed-in racquetball courts and steam rooms/saunas. We have ACE certified fitness trainers.

- Court reservations must be made for unit PTs. Reservations can be made anywhere from 24 hours to a week in advance.
- One reservation per command.
General Fitness Center Guidelines
- No photography.
- No food on the courts, in the Fitness Center or in the Group Exercise Room.
- Do not leave personal items unsecured.
- Locks are not provided. Please bring your own.
- Re-rack your weights and return equipment after use.
- Wipe down the equipment that you have used after you are finished.
The Liberty Center schedules and provides transportation for active-duty personnel to a variety of activities throughout the year such as horseback riding, scuba certification, paintball, golf instruction clinics, canoe trips, Bands on the Beach, and much more! Other services offered include: computer lab with wireless internet and printing services, a quiet room for studying, and the McNaughton book collection featuring hardback and audio books. This facility is open to active-duty personnel only. The Liberty Center, Building 2958, is located at 7426 USS Lexington Street on the second floor of the CBQ. Features — A game room complete with billiards, pingpong and an 80-inch television where patrons can play video game systems including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. The Navy Motion Pictures Service provides new feature films all month, and movies offered daily in the theater room (which also features HD satellite programs on a 60-inch HDTV).
Come visit the library and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for your morning cup of coffee or a long study session. The library provides new, popular fiction and non-fiction alongside classic literature. For families, there is a dedicated children’s room featuring picture books, juvenile fiction and non-fiction, and board books and leveled readers for children of all reading levels. Military members will also find books from the CNO’s Navy Professional Reading recommended reading list.
The library facility features mobile seating and lounge areas for individuals and groups, as well as whiteboards and a classic chalkboard for study or conference needs. A conference room is available for reservation up to 24 hours in advance and is otherwise available on a first come, first serve basis. Computers with printing capability are available, as well as a dedicated NMCI seat for individuals with a CAC. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, the library is your first step in finding the reading or resource material you need. Eligible patrons include active-duty personnel, retirees, family members and DOD civilian employees.
Online resources are available 24/7/365 though the Navy MWR Digital Library. This resource is available to Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard active-duty personnel, Reservists, retirees, dependents, Naval Academy Midshipman, DON Delayed Entry Program Personnel, and civilian employees (GS, NAF, CTR). E-books, audio books, digital magazines, genealogy resources, digital newspapers, auto repair, home repair, and tutoring services are just some of the numerous resources provided by the Navy MWR Digital Library, online at https://mwrdigitallibrary.navy.mil (account validation required).
Outdoor Recreation Equipment Rental
Activate your life through recreational fun! Get out and enjoy the Sunshine State with our variety of equipment and rentals. You’ll find everything you need to host the perfect party (pavilions, canopies, tables, chairs, grills, coolers and more!), or plan a do-it-yourself adventure with our bikes, camping gear and more! Rental equipment can be picked up at the Outdoor Warehouse, Building 2885, next to the NEX Gas Station. Call 850-623-7032 to find out the full list of gear that may be rented. The rental desk is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Features — Outdoor rental equipment, party rentals, pavilion reservations and free Wi-Fi.
Our Whiting Warriors Paintball facility will offer intense competition in an ever-changing course of obstacles. Situated in the netted enclosure next to Mulligan’s Grill with bleacher seating under a covered spectator area. Get ready for some fun! Reservations will be arranged by calling the Community Recreation Office at 850-665-6250.
Features — Movable/inflatable obstacles, netted play area and air charging station.
Open from sunrise to sunset daily, the Perimeter Trail is over 10 miles in length and offers variety to your workout. As it circumnavigates the base, you’ll find that Mother Nature has provided scenic views and dense wooded greenspace to encourage you along your route. Strategically placed water stations along the trail ensure users have access to fresh water to maintain proper hydration. Enjoy a few hills and some wide open spaces on this well-maintained route. The course encircles NAS Whiting Field’s South Fields and an off-road biking and jogging trail. Call 850-623-7412 for details.
NAS Whiting Field boasts an outdoor sports complex with two adjacent and lighted softball fields, two tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, two beach volleyball pits, four horseshoe pits, and a six-lane running track surrounding a well-groomed and lighted football field. Playground equipment and covered picnic areas are located on site. The site is also used for Captain’s Cup competitions later in the evenings.
Features — Lighted regulation-size football/soccer field surrounded by a quarter-mile track, two lighted regulation adult softball fields with a concession stand, picnic pavilion with two beach volleyball pits and four horseshoe pits, two lighted tennis courts and a basketball court.
MWR Sports Programs offer a wide variety of sporting competitions for active duty, their spouses, Ready Reservists and DOD civilians. The Captain’s Cup Program is a more formal and competitive sports opportunity. Each registered command will compete in leagues/tournaments throughout the year to accumulate points. The command that finishes the year with the most accumulated points will be presented the Captain’s Cup Trophy; the Captain’s Cup Trophy will then be on display at the winning command until the following year. Intramural Leagues or Tournaments
(Some of these are part of the Captains Cup program)
Leagues or tournaments are offered in basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, darts, billiards, kickball, table tennis, four-on-four beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, racquetball, H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training), corn hole, dodgeball and Sports Day in September (multiple events in one day). We are always open to add more sports/events, so if there is something that you have enjoyed participating while growing up or at other installations please let us know; we would love to add them to our schedule.
Recreational Sports opportunities provide a fun way to enjoy sports in a noncompetitive nature throughout the entire year. Recreational Sports are open to anyone who is eligible to include: active duty, dependents
(16 years or older), DOD civilians, ready reservist and retirees. Authorized patrons can be from NAS Whiting Field, NAS Pensacola or NASP Corry Station. These sports allow players to interact with not only their co-workers but also anyone that they meet who is interested in sports.
The Olympic-sized pool is adjacent to the Fitness Center in Building 1452A and located on the corner of USS Yorktown Street and USS Saratoga Street. To get to the pool, please enter through the Fitness Center. There is a $5 guest fee and a limit of one guest per ID card.
Features – A ramp leading into the pool that allows easy access for handicapped patrons, a shallow area with a slide as well as a deep end, seven 25-yard lanes available for lap swimmers, picnic area with tables and Red Cross certified youth swim lessons as well as contracted aqua fitness classes during our pool season. The pool has seasonal hours, so please call the Fitness Center at 850-623-7412 to learn the hours of operation.
Tickets and Travel
Navy Community Recreation’s Tickets and Travel Office offers a variety of leisure travel services including discount ticket sales to various attractions throughout the country and local attractions. We also offer lodging, cruises, bus tours, custom travel packages all over the world and other special services. Active-duty military, retired, dependents, DOD civilians and all MWR authorized patrons can purchase tickets. All prices are inclusive of our surcharge. Whiting Park Outdoor Recreation Facility
Whiting Park Outdoor Recreation Facility is a “one of a kind” Navy recreation facility, located at 5499 Old River Road by the beautiful Black Water River, just east of downtown Milton, Florida. There is something for the whole family, including boat rentals, sand volleyball courts, basketball, horseshoes, corn hole, and a wading area and playground for the kids. The park has seasonal hours, so always call 850-623-2383 to verify availability or check the MWR website at www.navymwrwhitingfield.com.
Watercraft: The park’s boat rental fleet includes a bass boat, Jon boats, skiffs and pontoon party boats as well as canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and paddleboats.
*Boater’s Safety Course required for anything over 10 horsepower if you were born after
Jan. 1, 1988. This course is available online at www.boatus.org.
Fuel: Whiting Park offers nonethanol fuel for purchase to authorized patrons; however, mechanical services and boat parts are not available.
Off-site rentals: Canoes, kayaks and Jon boats are available for off-premises or on the river. Boating and skiing accessories are also available for rent.
Pavilion Rentals: Five pavilions are available for rental, and reservations are required. Patrons must come in person to reserve pavilions up to one year in advance. All groups must either be sponsored by authorized patrons or have written approval from the commanding officer, NAS Whiting Field or the designated representative.
- For events, guest list must be submitted to MWR no less than five days prior to the event.
- Nonfederal organizations, (NFEs): Any non-DOD organization, (civic, private, religious, corporate, local government, etc.) with or without an authorized sponsor must have approval from the NASWF commanding officer prior to requesting a reservation. All requests must be sent to the commanding officer via the MWR Director.

Wiggly Field Dog Park
Open sunrise to sunset daily, Wiggly Field Dog Park exercise area is built especially for our K-9 friends. We’ve converted the softball field by the water towers into a safe fenced-in area to allow your pets a friendly place to play. Call 850-623-7032 with any questions.
Features — One acre of grassy area surrounded by a padded 4-foot-tall safety fence, safety fence uses a double gate entry-exit system for increased security, shaded areas in the observation dugouts and under the oak trees, water faucet with hose and stainless steel bowls, and ample parking lot adjacent to dog park.
